(Ad Revamp)

Objective:

Revamp an advertisement about disability that you consider inappropriate or had misrepresented disability through the advertisement.

The purpose of this assignment is to critically and creatively “read” advertisements for dominant ideologies/narratives and stereotypical/disableist stories/messages. 


 

Problems:

  • Four white male without disability in real life using different types of disability devices. 

The casts and props used in this advertisement indicated the idea of exclusion and stigmatization of people with disabilities in different gender, age, or industry


  • Business orientated body-copy

The advertisement should focus on the necessity to build an accessible environment for people with disability instead of creating profitable business.


Revamp Direction:

Use real people of disability in different industries to show how an accessible working environment enable their talent to thrive.
