Dot Incorporation

Background

With 500,000 visually impaired people in Canada and 40% are from Ontario, most of the current assistive devices (braille reader) and technologies (screen reader) are difficult to use out of home and expensive. For visually impaired people worldwide, due to the inaccessibility, less than 10 % can read braille and only 5% own one of those devices.

Insight

The visually impaired can reconnect to the world and society easier if they can read braille.

Opportunity

Making braille smartwatch part of the Assistive Devices Program from the Government of Ontario.

Concept

Create a petition to the Government of Ontario, making Dot Watch available to Visually Impaired People.

Methods

Incorporating three senses (sight, touch, hear) to reach targets with and without any impairment.

Why changing the speaking rate?

People without vision impairment can hear around 6 syllables per second.
However, the visually impaired can hear up to 25 syllables per second.
